Trio Henya
Trio Henya is a student group which originates in the longtime musical partnership of Miloš Kunc on piano and Petr Balhar on drums. The Trio’s sound is as much inspired by classic and contemporary jazz as it is by the musical traditions of the Middle East and, especially, the Balkans. And so, among the first recordings of the Trio we find an original arrangement of a Bosnian sevdalinka (folk song) U Stambolu Na Bosforu, and in their concert repertoire we can hear an instrumental version of Pitaju me, pitaju, a song by the king of Yugoslav 80’s pop, Oliver Mandić. Other music of the Trio comes from compositions by the pianist and bandleader, Miloš Kunc. The finalists of this year’s Jazzfruit contest hosted by Český rozhlas Jazz were to be heard at the Young Crocus Jazz Contest in Jelenia Góra, Poland and at the Jazz pod Kozákovem festival in Semily, Czech Republic.
