Tribute to John Scofield
A special evening dedicated to another giant of world jazz – guitarist John Scofield.
John Scofield is generally regarded as one of the pillars of world jazz, a successor to Miles Davis's legacy, and a great innovator in electric guitar playing. He has released countless albums, performed thousands of concerts, and expanded his musical horizons from the original fusion to postmodern jazz, as well as neo-funk and acid jazz with a hefty dose of electronics.
The evening will be divided into two parts. The first part will feature music from the "jazzy" period of the late 80s and early 90s, when John Scofield released albums like "Loud Jazz," "Time On My Hands," "Meant to Be," and "Grace Under Pressure." The quartet led by guitarist Tomáš Mika will perform, featuring excellent musicians: saxophonist Osian Roberts, bassist Peter Korman, and drummer Marek Urbánek.

In the second part of the evening, there will be music primarily from two legendary "neo-funk" albums, "A Go Go" and "Über Jam." This part of Scofield's work will be introduced by guitarist Jiří Šimek, who has been intensely exploring the use of electronic effects. Like his long-time inspiration, he will make use of fuzz, wah-wah, octaver, and ring modulator, so you can look forward to a sonically interesting and energetic performance by a fantastic band!
