Tongu
Music from different roots, which intertwine with each other—with a significant amount of improvisation—into new structures. A living matter hatches, an unidentifiable entity, a sinewy organ wrapping around the mind and heart (TONGU). We don't know what will come. The antennae are baited. He who has ears, hears. The members of this group are all outstanding personalities of the Czech music scene: Michal Nejtek (internationally known composer and pianist), Jan Jirucha (composer, arranger, trombonist), Martin Debrička (saxophonist and composer), Jan Chalupa (percussionist), Luan Goncalves (bassist and double bassist) and Jan Bára (guitarist). The music of this ensemble is difficult to categorize; it is a fusion of the many musical influences they love: jazz and rhythm music, improvisation, compositional techniques from contemporary classical music (e.g., microtonality and serial techniques), elements of hard music (rock, hardcore), dance music and other influences.
