Tomáš Sýkora Solo

Melody as a legacy of European music, jazz harmony, improvisation, elaborate sound, thoughtful construction of music form, color of compositions—these are the main features of the Tomáš Sykora Trio. After all of Tomas’s work with big ensembles, he has decided to get back to something smaller and more intimate. Thanks to his jazz idols (Bill Evans, Horace Silver, Chick Corea, John Taylor) who were leaders of their own jazz trios, thanks to the inspiration from contemporary artists (Edward Simon, Aaron Parks, Nitai Herskovits, Tigran Hamasyan) and, last but not least, thanks to his teacher Karel Růžička who was a real master in playing with trio, Tomáš Sýkora decided to pursue and explore the format of an acoustic jazz trio. His repertoire is based on his original music with the exception of three compositions by the Czech composer Vítězslav Novák.
