Szabó/Turcerová/Maceček
This fresh young trio was born in the summer of 2017 between the Czech and Slovak borders. The group consists of saxophonist Michaela Turcerová from the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, and guitarist Štefan Szabó and drummer Petr Maceček from the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno. Their repertoire contains mostly originals, as well as new arrangements of jazz standards and pieces by contemporary composers. Their uniquely engaging performances offer both meditative melodies and lively compositions colored with witty improvisation. In just two years of existence, the trio has performed extensively on tours across the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Poland. In November 2018, they took part in the international Krokus Jazz Fest in Poland, where their saxophonist Michaela won the special prize for solo performance.
