Roman Pokorný Jazz Quartet
One of the greatest living Czech guitar players will perform with his quartet. His energetic music comes mainly from the jazz mainstream with blues roots: the hardbop, or soul jazz, that was popular in the 1950s and 1960s, but retains its magic, energy and grateful listeners. The sound and aesthetics of this style could be characterized by a list of famous albums: George Benson’s Cook Book, Grant Green’s Grantstand or Kenny Burrell and Jimmy Smith’s Blue Bash, to name a few – or, for that matter, the very latest from Pokorny's own Brooklyn Session, which he recently filmed in New York with Pat Bianchi, Frank Basil and Byron Landham. To date, Pokorný has released eight albums and is rightly ranked among the best that the Prague jazz scene has to offer.
