Rene Trossman & Little Big Band
Rene Trossman is a guitarist with a long history in Blues music. Since going professional in 1985, Rene has done it all. He was a regular on the fantastic Chicago club scene, performing at both South Side and West Side clubs, and playing with artists like Chick Willis, Deitra Farr, Byther Smith, Nate Turner, Iceman Robinson, Eb Davis, Lorenzo Thompson, Sharon Lewis, and others. The musicians who play with Rene Trossman are some of the best blues players from the Prague scene, including both Czechs and expats from other countries living in Prague. Rene has been leading his "new thing" in Prague since February 2003. The band is either a quartet, with Rene on guitar and vocals, accompanied by keyboards, bass, and drums, or a sextet, adding horns to form “The Little-Big Band.” The band has regular gigs in Prague and performs throughout the Czech Republic. Rene also takes the band on the road, having already played in 15 countries.
Rene plays straight-ahead Chicago blues, with influences from the West Side and South Side styles, in the tradition of the 1950s and 1960s Chicago scene. The band primarily plays Rene’s original music, while also paying tribute to the greats of Chicago’s “Golden Era of the Blues” in the 1950s and 1960s. Rene’s passion for the incredible stars of that era is evident, as they often perform material by Otis Rush, Magic Sam, Muddy Waters, Jimmy Reed, Earl Hooker, and other blues legends of the time. If you love Blues, especially Chicago Blues, be sure to check out Rene Trossman. He definitely has that “Chicago sound”!
