Otto Hejnic Trio – New CD release
This fantastic trio, whose leader is a drummer, has been reaping successes worldwide for 10 years—and it is these 10 years that the trio will celebrate with a special concert in Jazz Dock. Drummer Otto Hejnic, is not only the author of many of the songs, he perfectly links the individuality and ferocity of the other two players: Slovak piano virtuoso Ondrej Krajňák—who, as a sideman, has recorded a number of albums, and is best known for his cooperation with Ida Kellarová—and Bassist Josef Fečo, who is a true leader in his field, a virtuoso of both the double and electric bass, who has performed with many world players, such as Benny Golson. Four great albums and concerts around the world speak for themselves, such as last month's tour in Poland or at the famous Paris club Duc Des Lombardes. The trio has been perfectly captured in Jazzport by Jan Hocek: “Hejnic's trio plays superb, thoroughbred jazz, and yet it’s so catchy the listener can even whistle to it, and at the same time wonder what miracles the musicians do with the motif! The album Lights is closed by the gorgeous composition ‘Spirit of the Mountain’, initially evoking its colorful mood by Musorgsky's ‘Pictures from the Show,’ then breaking, exploding into the double bass, and then the piano begins to conjure up a quasi-folklore theme.”
