Oskar Török Sextet
We have always known trumpeter Oskar Török as a prominent musician in various formations, especially in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland. In our country he is probably most associated with the band Vertigo, with which he won several Anděl awards, the Polish quintet of Wojciech Mazolewski, but also as a sideman in the bands of Iva Bittová or Beata Hlavenková. He studied trumpet at the Katowice Academy of Music and his playing is unmistakable, inventive, and he is a great improviser and composer. Underlining with ambient tones and dynamically felt improvisation makes him unique in any ensemble. He has currently formed his first band under his own name, the Oskar Török Sextet, which will play its Prague premiere at the Jazz Dock. The vocalist of the project is Simona Hulejová, a young and talented vocalist from Ružomberok, who has already performed several times in Jazz Dock as a soloist in the Milan Svoboda Orchestra of the KJJ University of Music, or as a participant of the Night of the Female Vocalists festival. Nikolaj Nikitin and Ľuboš Šrámek are among the top of the Czechoslovak scene and have collaborated with names such as Miroslav Vitouš, Tom Harrell and Johnathan Blake. The rhythm section consists of the legendary Juraj Griglák, one of the most prominent Slovak bassists, and Matheus Jardim, a young Brazilian drummer living in Vienna.
