Melody Makers 7 & Vojtěch Havelka
Melody Makers 7 is a synonym for authentic interpretation of popular music of the swing era, i.e. music dating back to the beginning of the 1920s to swing’s heights in early 1940s. Their variegated repertory includes a broad spectrum of attractive tunes, sweet and hot, ranging from Hollywood musicals to bands’ top swing numbers. The ensemble, which is reduced version of big band Ondrej Havelka and his Melody Makers, plays authentic musical instruments, takes a pious approach to remaking authentic arrangements, and systematically learns and masters interpretation techniques of the swing period. The outcome is quite unexpected – the charming sound we all know from original recordings and films. Vojtěch Havelka, singer, actor and a guitarist, performing by his father's side as an entertainer in jazz orchestra Melody Makers.
