"If You Could See Me Now"
Martina Barta is a multitalented Czech singer and musician born in Prague, based in Berlin and performing with diverse music projects at national and international music festivals and music venues worldwide. She will present during her concert a colorful mixture of well-known and less known songs and melodies from the repertoire of Martina’s biggest vocal idols such as Shirley Horn, Nancy Wilson, Sarah Vaughan and Abbey Lincoln. You will be also introduced to some popular compositions of Burt Bacharach & Hal David in original arrangements, as well as original compositions that Martina wrote together with her older sister, the Czech female jazz pianist and composer, Kristina Barta. In 2017, Martina represented her home country, the Czech Republic, with the song “My Turn” at the Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev. In 2019, she started to perform in a duo with the legendary American jazz vibraphonist David Friedman. In 2021, Martina started as a DAAD scholarship recipient at the renowned Manhattan School of Music in New York, where she took classes in the Jazz Arts Masters Program (Prof. Theo Bleckmann, Prof. Buster Williams) and completed her degree in May 2023.
