The successful jazz singer Martina Barta will bring a truly exclusive line-up to the Jazz Dock! This time the legendary American vibraphonist David Friedman and Ukrainian trumpeter Dima Bondarev will join her on the stage.
In May 2023, Martina moved back to Europe after almost two years in New York, where she studied at the renowned Manhattan School of Music. During her stay in NYC, she had the opportunity to collaborate with great jazz musicians such as Buster Williams, Theo Bleckmann, Ingrid Jensen, Marc Cary and perform in legendary cultural institutions such as Carnegie Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Dizzy's Club or Birdland.
Few musicians can claim such a broad musical spectrum as the world-renowned vibraphonist, marimbist, composer and educator David Friedman. He has performed and recorded with such diverse musical figures as Leonard Bernstein, Luciano Berio, Bobby McFerrin, Yoko Ono and Wayne Shorter to name a few. He premiered the first composition for improvised vibraphone and orchestra "By the Reflecting Pool" with the prestigious Bruckner Orchestra in Linz, Austria under the direction of Dennis Russell Davies. His compositions can be heard on recordings with Chet Baker, Richard Stoltzman, Kenny Wheeler, the famous Argentinian bandoneonist, Dino Saluzzi and many others. From 1989 to 2005, David was the founder and director of the jazz department at the Universität der Künste in Berlin.
In 2016, David was inducted into the Percussive Arts Society Hall of Fame.
In 2017, David founded his own record label, Malletmuse Records.
