Libor Šmoldas & Niklas Winter Duo
Two top European guitarists, Finn Niklas Winter and Czech Libor Šmoldas, join forces in a joint guitar duo project.
Niklas Winter studied at the famous Berklee College of Music in Boston, has nine albums to his credit and countless others as a sideman. His main interest is original music, on which he collaborates with Scandinavian and international musicians such as Ulf Wakenius, Kenny Wheeler, Henry Lowther, Jesse van Ruller, Cameron Brown, Kiri Te Kanawa and Morten Lund. He has performed at the London Jazz Festival, Copenhagen Jazz Festival, Yokohama Jazz Promenade, Beijing Contemporary Music Festival and Orta Jazz Festival in Italy and tours regularly in the USA, Europe and Asia, including 23 tours of Japan.
Libor Šmoldas is a Czech guitarist known both for his international activities - he has played with world stars such as George Mraz, Jeff Ballard, Sam Yahel, Bobby Watson, Adam Nussbaum, James Morrison, Brian Charette, Gregory Hutchinson, Jon Faddis and Jay Anderson - and for his collaborations with the top of the Czech scene, including Ondrej Pivec, Robert Balzar and David Dorůžka. Among the clubs where he has performed are Ronnie Scotts, Pizza express, Smalls, Iridium, Blue Note, Birdland, Dear Head Inn, B flat, Porgy and Bess and Bennetts Lane. He has released eleven albums under his own name and many more as a collaborator. The Czech and international press agree on his high qualities and leading position among European jazz guitarists.
