Kristina Barta Trio ft. David Friedman (USA) - CD release
Modern jazz trio/quartet under the direction of leading Czech jazz pianist and composer Kristina Barta. Her singable melodies, infectious rhythms, distinctive approach and the great interaction within her band members enthused the international jury of the 2015 Jazz Prix competition. Barta won the first prize in this competition for jazz artists under 35 years of age and living in the Czech Republic.
In 2016, the trio was a finalist of Euroradio Jazz Competition and performed at Bimhuis in Amsterdam in Netherland.
The band was established in 2015 with leading young Czech jazz musicians such as Jan Feco on bass and Marek Urbanek on drums. The band appeared at prestigious Bohemia Jazz Fest in Pilsen and Prachatice before bands like Yellowjackets.
Her debut album was created in Austria in cooperation with the Austrian promoter and publisher Peter Guschelbauerem which was, in the years 2002 - 2007, Austrian promoter Joe Zawinul. Kristina invited special guests for her album- Karel Růžička Jr. on tenor saxophone, Miroslav Hloucal on trumpet, Kryštof Tomeček on guitar and David Friedman, American vibraphonist, a professor at the Jazz Institute in Berlin. David Friedman worked with musicians such as Wayne Shorter, Horace Silver and Chet Baker. He was a member of the New York Pilharmonic and also taught at the Manhattan School of Music in New York.
