Kristina Barta Quartet ft. Jure Pukl
JAZZ OF FOUR CONTINENTS
Kristina Barta is an internationally renowned composer and pianist. She released her debut album EMA29 in Austria, like her latest album Love and Passion. Barta has won several international awards and is holder of the coveted OSA Award for the best Czech jazz composition of 2016. Her quintet Event Horizon played at Jazzahead! 2021 in Bremen, the biggest jazz fair and showcase festival in the world. She is currently performing with her quartet, with which she will present a brand-new repertoire supplemented by compositions from Love and Passion: "Kristina Barta comes with a fresh message from the Czech jazz scene. The album contains extensive compositions with original textures, which are often counterpoint layered and harmoniously difficult. Kristina Barta walks her own distinctive path. Her music is enriched with adult pop and rock, it is unbridledly creative and its quality is comparable to foreign works. We hope that promoters in Western Europe will soon notice this exceptional talent."— Martin Schuster, Concerto Magazine, Austria
Jure Pukl is one of Slovenia's most prolific and creative saxophonists, working primarily on the New York jazz scene. During his studies at the Berklee College of Music in the USA, Pukl performed and recorded extensively, pursued his own projects and collaborated with many great musicians from different fields of music, such as Dave Liebman, Branford Marsalis, Esperanza Spalding, George Lewis, Maceo Parker, and many, many others. "Jure put together a record that flows like the wind." – Joe Lovano
