Kristina Barta Quartet

Kristina Barta is a Czech composer and pianist. After studying classical music and composition at the Prague Conservatory, she graduated from the Academy of Music Arts in Prague, specializing in jazz piano. She has participated in national and international competitions: Krokus Jazz Festival 2017 in Poland—best piano player, OSA composer's competition—best jazz composition for 2016, finalist of the Euroradio Jazz Competition 2016, winner of Jazz Prix 2015, and others. EMA29, her debut album was released in 2017 on the Austrian label Alessa Records in cooperation with the promoter Peter Guschelbauer (promoter of Joe Zawinul). The Kristina Barta Quartet plays original music, contemporary creative jazz based on modern jazz, reflecting her earlier classical music studies with an emphasis on melodies and emotions. The female element with a strong men’s band, unchanged for three years, always promises an interesting interaction of all the musicians: Kristina Barta – piano; Kryštof Tomeček – guitar; Jan Fečo – double bass; Marek Urbánek – drums.
