Kristina Barta Event Horizon

Kristina Barta is an internationally renowned pianist and composer who placed 1st in the composer's competition hosted by OSA. Her trio with Jan Fečo and Marek Urbánek was a finalist in the 2016 Euroradio Jazz Competition. Kristina is also winner of the 2017 Powiew Mlodegu Jazzu, where she received a prize for her piano playing. In 2017, the trio released its debut album EMA29 (Alessa Records), recording with vibraphonist David Friedman, saxophonist Karel Ruzicka jr., guitarist Krystof Tomecek and trumpeter Miroslav Hloucal. Kristina’s trio has played most of the well-known jazz festivals, including The Montreux Jazz Festival, The Steyr Jazz Festival, and the V4 Jazz Festival in Hungary. Her current project, Event Horizon, consists of the original trio enriched with guitar and saxophone. This new 5-member band plays original contemporary creative jazz, reflecting on Kristina's earlier classical music studies with an emphasis on melodies, modern rhythms and electronica.
