New Rotterdam Jazz Orchestra & Anton Goudsmit (NL)

New Roterdam Jazz Orchestra is distinctive twelvemember Dutch orchestra led by very creative composer and guitarist Anton Goudsmit. Their compositions contain wild escapades, elegant mid-tempo pieces and ripping individual solos; the twelve-member group always looks for inspirational musical challenges. The orchestra strives to: ‘raise some hell for ourselves and for Anton.’ That boundless energy was finally captured on a live album in 2015: New Rotterdam Jazz Orchestra Meets Anton Goudsmit. This debut was immediately nominated for an Edison Jazz award and received a rave review in the Dutch morning paper de Volkskrant, in which Goudsmit was characterized as ‘one of Dutch best, most adventurous jazz guitarists’.
