Jan Andr & The Track Inspection
ft. Ian "Neuma" Martin
HAMMOND DAYS
We will have a real analog Hammond organ with Leslie box in the club for our HAMMOND DAYS mini-festival!
The project of pianist, Hammond organ player and composer Jan Andr combines jazz tradition with modern genres such as soul, funk and hip hop. Inspired by the New York club scene, The Track Inspection is a unique formation on the Czech jazz scene, combining the Hammond organ trio and a three-member brass section. Jan Andr’s collaborations range from the soul-pop diva Tonya Graves, through electronic music producer Boris Carloff to the Milan Svoboda Prague Big Band. The other band members—Kirill Yakovlev, Tomáš Hobzek, Miroslav Hloucal, Petr Kalfus and Richard Šanda—are experienced jazz musicians.
Ian "Neuma" Martin fell in love with hip hop while growing up between cultures in the USA, Spain and the UK. At age 12 he began writing, producing and performing (badly). His first studio album, City on a Hill (2007), was met with excellent reviews and airplay on BBC radio. Coalition Forces, a duo with South African rapper Skivvy-G, was also recorded later that year while living in Pretoria, South Africa. After university studies at UCL and Oxford, Ian released the EP Wish It Were True (2014). His most recent album, Dual Citizen, was inspired by the journey of shaping identity between youth and adulthood. A live version of the album was captured in 2019 with the Prague-based jazz band, The Track Inspection. Wrestling with deep spiritual themes, his lyrics are deeply personal while drawing attention to universal human desires.
