Cyrille Oswald & The Survivors

Cyrille Oswald & The Survivors

Sunday 01/06/2025 from 21:00

Cyrille Oswald began his professional music career in the early 1990s while living in the Caribbean. After returning to his native Netherlands, he studied at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague under the guidance of John Ruocco. Since then, he has recorded and performed both in the Netherlands and internationally with ensembles such as the Cubop City Big Band, Nueva Manteca, Rumbata, and others.

Since 2008, Cyrille Oswald has been based primarily in Prague. After teaching at jazz workshops organized by the Czech Jazz Society, he soon formed his own quartet with David Dorůžka, Tomáš Liška, and Daniel Šoltis. In this lineup, he recorded his fourth album The Wrong Present—entirely composed by him—for Animal Music in 2010. The music of this ensemble could be described as postmodern jazz, drawing on a wide range of influences including world music, alternative music, and contemporary classical music.
