The band of pianist, synthesizer player and composer Boris Urbánek has been active since 1996. In the 28 years of its existence, the Boris Band Combination has played hundreds of concerts at home in the Czech Republic and abroad (Poland, Germany, France, Georgia). The band has produced dozens of young musicians from Ostrava who are now a firm part of the Czech professional music scene. The energetic Fusion music is based mainly on Boris Urbánek’s compositions. This year they are releasing a CD, BBC live - Made in Ostrava, which was christened in June at the Jazz Open Ostrava. During his rich career, Boris Urbánek has worked as a pianist, composer, producer, publisher and bandleader of the Tutu and Joro groups. He has also been a member of M. Kratochvil's Jazz IQ, L. Andrsht's Blues Band, the Peter Lipa Band and Marie Rottrová & Flamingo, as well as the B Side Band & Vojtěch Dyk. He has also written several musicals and film scores.
