Basile & Roberts Quintet (USA/UK/CZ)

Frank Basile is one of New York’s most in-demand baritone saxophonists, and as such has worked with some of the very best in the business, including The Count Basie Orchestra, The Dizzy Gillespie All-Star Big Band, The Jimmy Heath Big Band, The Village Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, The Dave Holland Big Band, and the Joe Lovano Nonet. Osian Roberts has recorded and performed with many jazz greats, most notably Cedar Walton, Kirk Lightsey, and George Mraz. Basile & Roberts first met in New York in 2007. They have since toured the UK several times, made two albums together on the Hard Bop Records label, and performed with their group at some of New York’s most prestigious clubs (Smalls, Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola, Smoke). Their music is very much in the New York “hard bop” tradition, with a repertoire including works by Thad Jones, Jimmy Heath, and Charlie Parker, as well as their own compositions and some rare standards. Expect some fast tempos, exciting and intricate melodies, but above all, joyous, swinging music to uplift your soul!
