Anne Gil & Jiří Maršíček Band
Anne Gil is a Colombian singer-songwriter who has stood out with an original and innovative musical style in which she fuses vallenato music with rock and blues. Vallenato is a Colombian folk musical genre originating on the northern coast of the country. This genre arises from the fusion of the musical styles of the Africans, who were forcibly brought to South America, the indigenous Native Indians and the Spanish colonizers. In this genre, the tradition of the Spanish minstrel was merged with the drums and singing style of the Africans and the musical instruments of the Native Indians. To date, Anne Gil has released three albums and written more than 100 songs between cumbias, vallenatos and fusions. Anne Gil, winner of the Vallenato USA Festival in 2018 with her song “Origen,” has received numerous recognitions from the consulates of Colombia and Mexico in the United States for her role as a female representative of Colombian culture and music abroad. The band was assembled by Jiří Maršíček, one of the most prominent blues guitarists in the Czech Republic. Initially immersed purely in the blues, Jiří has developed a style and sound during his musical journey that also draws from the roots of soul and funk.
