Andrea Šulcová & Allison Wheeler´s Tour Guide Barbie

Special songwriter night at Jazz Dock! Andrea Šulcová and her band will play tunes from her debut Opportunities and will be followed by Allison Wheeler’s brand new group Tour Guide Barbie, a sparkly blend of pop, punk & americana.

Andrea Šulcová is a singer, songwriter and flutist active in the genres of folk, bluegrass, acoustic pop and jazz. She was born in the Czech Republic in 1991. After completing her studies at the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory in Prague, she became the first flute player ever to study at the jazz department of the Kunstuniversität Graz in Austria. In 2018, she was forced to put her musical activities on hold due to health problems. In 2020, she dedicated herself to songwriting and solo singing, and to releasing singles and musical videos in collaboration with pianist Vít Křišťan and the double bass player Robert Balzar. In 2021, she released the solo EP Nobody Knows, featuring six original songs. In 2022, Andrea Šulcová released her debut album Opportunities.

Vocalist Allison Wheeler is an innovative composer of great sonic imagination and a versatile voice with a love for creative challenge. Although she cites influences such as Regina Spektor and Fiona Apple, she has been compared by critics to artists such as Becca Stevens and Gretchen Parlato, yet she creates a world uniquely her own. Jazz-like in structure, her music seamlessly crosses genre lines, drawing influence from her love of folk tradition and visual art to construct a realm of imagination fueled by improvisation, nostalgia and a love for impressionism. Her debut album as bandleader, Winterspring, was released in 2022 under the UK label Ubuntu Music.

Tour Guide Barbie is a captivating new presence on the indie alternative scene, blending the rich sounds of Americana and folk with the modern flair of synth pop and punk rock to produce a sound that is fresh and distinct.
