Alf Carlsson/Jiří Kotača Quartet (SWE/CZ/SK)
Alf Carlsson/Jiří Kotača Quartet is a European jazz group consisting of Swedish, Czech and Slovak jazz musicians. They meet in a jazz context, but have allowed themselves to dive into the music history of their respective countries. The result is strong, lyrical original compositions but also arrangements in Czech, Slovak and Swedish folk tunes. The band has played dozens of concerts over Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, Netherlands and Sweden. All members, despite their young age, have established themselves on the national and European scenes, working with top jazz musicians such as David Dorůžka, Sulivan Fortner, Ilja Reijngoud and the European Radio Jazz Orchestra. Jiří Kotača has been nominated for the Anděl Award (the “Czech Grammy”) and won the Czech Jazz Harvest 2020 with his other project.
