My Love With You Always

My Love With You Always is a new collection of works by guitarist and composer Alex Goodman. Recognized as "among the most promising talents of [his] jazz generation" (JazzTimes)" and one of New York's most vital young guitarists" (Jazziz), Goodman is now presenting his most personal and ambitious project. The pieces for string quartet, guitar, and bass are a culminating work that explores new directions in composed chamber music with improvisation. My Love With You Always was written with support from the Canada Council for the Arts at a monumentally challenging time in Goodman's life. In 2021, Alex's wife was taken seriously ill and this music was written during a prolonged period of new perspectives, priorities, and responsibilities as a primary caregiver. The program reflects reworkings of pieces throughout Goodman's career and new compositions that reckon with immense emotional impacts. My Love With You Always brings together Goodman's diverse skills as a composer and guitarist in a uniquely personal way. This is engaging, intricate, passionate, and thoughtful music deeply connected to jazz and classical traditions. My Love With You Always is for Valerie Quinn. It reflects Goodman's broad musical concept with a creative new sound. This 2024 European tour will be the premiere of these deeply personal pieces.
