Acoustic Needles
Acoustic Needles is a fresh musical project that blends elements of jazz, funk, and hip-hop in a unique crossover style. The group's leader and main composer is multi-instrumentalist Jakub Eben. Other members of the project include vocalists Emma Vyskočilová and Zaira, guitarist Lukáš Velemínský, bassist Jan Neruda, and drummer Vojtěch Záhora. The band has released three EPs, featuring guest appearances by musicians such as Martin Brunner Jr. and Miroslav Chyška. In 2022, Acoustic Needles won the Jazz Fruit competition, which is dedicated to young jazz talents. Jakub Eben grew up in a family of musicians and is the son of saxophonist and musicologist David Eben. Thanks to his musical background, he decided to fully dedicate himself to music. He studied drums at the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory and music management at the University of Economics in Prague. He is currently pursuing a master's degree in music production at the Academy of Performing Arts. Besides his main project, he is a sideman in various Czech ensembles, including TooT Ensemble, Musica Florea, Helena Kalambová, and Mindless Motion.
